FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions
Can I wear headphones while I run?

For your safety, we discourage you from wearing headphones while you run the race. If you choose to wear headphones, please use common sense such as keeping the volume low, running with buds in one ear and pay attention to verbal instructions.

Can anyone join the Lincoln Track Club?

YES! You can choose from four different membership levels with different benefits to fit your fitness and financial needs. https://secure.getmeregistered.com/get_information.php?event_id=122315

Can my kids run?

Absolutely! The LTC has a series of seven races designed specifically for them. Kids who are in the sixth grade or younger at the first LTC race (State Farm Run on March 19, 2016) will automatically be entered into the Pepsi Kids’ Grand Prix and will be charged a lower fee for each race they enter in the series. If they finish five of the seven races, they will be a “Grand Slammer” and receive a plaque and a t-shirt. Detailed information about the Pepsi Kids’ Grand Prix can be found here. http://www.lincolnrun.org/info/kids-grand-prix

I’m not a fast runner. Should I sign up for races?

Definitely! The LTC welcomes runners and walkers from all levels. Remember, it is an accomplishment to finish what you started and everyone is a winner at our events. We do recommend slower runners/walkers start at the back of pack and stay toward the right-hand side of the course to allow faster runners to pass with ease.

How many races do you have each year?

The LTC puts on 11 races with a variety of distances so it will be easy for you to find a race to fit your level. Our racing season is March through December so you will more than likely run something in nearly all kinds of Nebraska weather.  (insert race schedule)

I can’t get to packet pick up. Will I be able to pick it up before the race?

Yes! Race day packet pick up varies from race-to-race so you will want to go to check the details on the race website. Allow plenty of time for parking and standing in line…we would get there early.

Can a friend pick up my packet for me?

Yes! We allow you to pick up packets for someone else. You will need to know their name and race number.

I won’t be able to run the race. Can I get my money back or transfer my registration to someone else?

The LTC has a NO refund and NO transfer policy which is clearly state on the registration waiver and instructions. By registering for our events, participants are agreeing to abide by this policy (ie, the box you clicked Yes I understand without reading). Our race rules also prohibit running under a number or a chip not assigned to you. Any runner using another’s number or chip in a race and anyone allowing another to use his or her number or chip will not be allowed to participate in future LTC events.

What about dogs?

For the safety of others, including your dog, we ask that you keep your dog home. That said, we highly encourage you to bring Rover to run the Holiday Run on December 4, 2016 as all proceeds from this run go to the Capital Humane Society. http://www.lincolnrun.org/races/holiday

What happens if it rains or snows?

The race will go on regardless of precipitation and will only be cancelled if weather conditions present imminent danger to participants. In our 40+ years of putting on races, we have rarely cancelled or postponed a race because of weather. If there is severe weather in the area, we will contact local TV and radio stations and post an update on our website as well as social media channels.

What time should I get there?

The earlier the better is our motto. You will avoid traffic and porta pottie lines and get a better parking spot.

What do I get with my registration fee?

If you register by the early deadline, you will more than likely get a t-shirt of some sort. The exception to this rule is the LTC’s oldest run, the Buffalo Run on September 11, where you will get a pair of running shorts. Other perks to running include aid stations with water and Gatorade as well as fresh fruit and either bagels, cookies or donuts at the finish. You will also have a great time which we can’t put a price on.

I can’t run the race but I want to help. How do I volunteer?

Simple…just click on this link and you will be put in contact with our volunteer coordinator. Let your friends know, too. It is more fun to volunteer with a posse.
