There are six heats with the first heat starting at 8 a.m. with 15-20 minutes between each heat. The heats are:
- 8 a.m.: boys grades 5-6
- 8:20 a.m.: girls grades 5-6
- 8:40 a.m.: boys grades 3-4
- 9 a.m.: girls grades 3-4
- 9:20 a.m.: boys 2nd grade and under
- 9:40 a.m.: girls 2nd grade and under
Any child may run with a heat of older children if they need to finish early. If you need to walk and plan to take over 12 minutes we encourage you to wait until after the first two heats. No roller skates or blades, skate boards or dogs are allowed.
Cost and Registration
This year marks the 30th Annual KFRX Mayor’s Run sponsored by Sandhill’s Publishing. Known as midwest America’s largest children’s run, the Mayor’s Run will be giving away 35 bikes and $1 from every entry will be donated to Woods Tennis Center – Taking the Game to the Community.
Any 6th grade or younger child is eligible to run in the Mayor’s Run. Parents, grandparents, older siblings or an adult sponsor are welcome to enter on the family plan and accompany younger runners in heats 3, 4, 5 and 6 and receive a t-shirt. It is NOT necessary for adults to register to accompany a young runner.

Entry Fee & Family Plan
The first family member is the regular price of $6. If submitted together, additional family members from the same household are $4 each. Family plan entries must be registered by Thursday, April 20 at 11:59pm. Each runner must enter online separately. Fees are as follows:
>>$6 if entered on or before Thursday, April 20
** If you register on or before April 20 and have selected an LPS elementary school, your packet and shirt will be delivered at school.
>>$8 from April 21 to Friday, April 28
** If you register from April 21-28, packets and shirts will ONLY be available at The Cornhusker Hotel from 3-6pm on Friday, May 5 or on race morning, May 6 starting at 7am. No school pickup for late registration!
>>$10 entry (no t-shirt included) in person at packet pickup at the Cornhusker Hotel on Friday, May 5 from 3-6 p.m.
>>No race day entries
Runners can only register online. Online registration closes at 11:59 p.m. on Friday, April 28.
The Mayor’s Run t-shirt is one of the most popular race shirts for the Lincoln Track Club because it is designed by a participant in the race. Every runner who enters by Thursday, April 21 is guaranteed a race t-shirt so be sure to mark your size when you register. Sizes run small so plan accordingly. Late registration without a t-shirt is in person at packet pickup at the Cornhusker Hotel on Friday, May 5 from 3-6 p.m. THERE ARE NO RACE DAY ENTRIES!
Kids’ Grand Prix
The KFRX Mayor’s Run sponsored by Sandhill’s Publishing is the third and largest event in the Pepsi Kids’ Grand Prix series. If this is your third event of the season, wait to pick up your prize at the fourth event.
The KFRX Mayor’s Run sponsored by Sandhill’s Publishing starts on the south side of the state capitol building, heading west to make a loop-and-a-half around the capitol including one pass along Goodhue Boulevard. The race finishes on the north side of the capitol. This is the third and largest race in the Kids’ Grand Prix series.
Many schools distribute packets at the school. Check with your PE teacher to see if your school does this.

Race Day – before the run on the south side of the State Capital
Many prizes including 35 bicycles, helmets, and bike locks from Cycle Works, as well as 20 pairs of shoes from the Lincoln Running Co., will be awarded to students at school or available to pickup at KFRX. Please check with your PE Teacher. One bike will be given to the art contest winner. All runners will also receive many valuable coupons and each runner will receive a gift from Sandhill’s Publishing.
Limited parking is available in the parking lots on the south side of the State Capitol building.
Video from all six heats of the Mayor’s Run will be running continuously at the Cornhusker Hotel at the Marathon Expo at 333 S 13th Street.
