Get your Jingle on and Fa LaLaLaLaLa your way to Pioneers Park for the 20th annual Holiday Run, a fun and festive Lincoln Track Club-sponsored event dedicated to Fido and his furry friends at the Capital Humane Society. The run is scheduled for Sunday, Dec. 6, and registration is now open.
This is a charity run, with 5k and 1-mile distances that follow along the cross country course. Participants are invited, and encouraged, to bring their dogs along and dress everyone in holiday-inspired attire. It is an untimed event, so wear your watch if monitoring speed is important to you. This is all about fun and fundraising for the Capital Humane Society and their work on behalf of the dogs and cats in our community.
The Lincoln Track Club will be following guidance from the local health department to keep you safe. This means we will have a staggered start in order to social distance. The 1-mile run begins at 10 a.m. as one heat. Then, beginning at 10:15 a.m., we will start the 5k, releasing heats to run every 15 minutes. This means when you register for the event, coordinate with your friends so you all register for the same start time.
Sadly, it also will be BYOHC (Bring Your Own Hot Chocolate). Sorry about that. We’d love to provide it, but it’s COVID’s fault. We WILL still provide a treat for your pet courtesy of Nellie’s Pet Snacks, an individually wrapped Cookie Company cookie for you, and a bottled water. Now that’s something to Ho Ho Ho about.
So join the Lincoln Track Club as we spread some holiday cheer, keep you and your dog active and healthy outdoors, and raise money for a good cause. All proceeds go to the Capital Humane Society, so this is a no-refund event.
We look forward to seeing you and Fido on Dec. 6 at the Holiday Run at Pioneers Park.
