Location: Nebraska State Capitol
Start: Near 16th and H Streets
Finish: Approximately 15th and K Streets

Start Times:
There are six heats with the first heat starting at 8 a.m. with 15-20 minutes between each heat. The heats are:

  • 8 a.m.: boys grades 5-6
  • 8:20 a.m.: girls grades 5-6
  • 8:40 a.m.: boys grades 3-4
  • 9 a.m.: girls grades 3-4
  • 9:20 a.m.: boys 2nd grade and under
  • 9:40 a.m.: girls 2nd grade and under

Any child may run with a heat of older children if they need to finish early. If you need to walk and plan to take over 12 minutes we encourage you to wait until after the first two heats.  No roller skates or blades, skate boards or dogs are allowed.

Children through Grade 6 are eligible to submit artwork for consideration in the Mayor’s Run T-Shirt Design Contest.

One (1) design will be chosen as the winning artwork will be displayed on the official race t-shirt that all participants will receive.  In addition to having their artwork displayed, the winner will also receive a bicycle, bike helmet, and bike helmet from The Bike Rack.

Four (4) other designs will be chosen as runner-up winners and displayed in the Mayor’s Run information sheet which is included in all participant packets.

The Art Winner and Runner’s-Up will be presented plaques before the start of the Mayor’s Run on May 5th.

This year marks the 31st Annual KFRX Mayor’s Run sponsored by Sandhill’s Publishing. Known as midwest America’s largest children’s run, the Mayor’s Run will be giving away 30 bikes and $1 from every entry will be donated to BikeSafeIM.

Any 6th grade or younger child is eligible to run in the Mayor’s Run. Parents, grandparents, older siblings or an adult sponsor are welcome to enter on the family plan and accompany younger runners in heats 3, 4, 5 and 6 and receive a t-shirt. It is NOT necessary for adults to register to accompany a young runner.

Entry Fee & Family Plan
The first family member is the regular price of $6. If submitted together, additional family members from the same household are $4 each. Family plan entries must be registered by Thursday, April 19 at 11:59pm. Each runner must enter online separately. Fees are as follows:

>>$6 if entered on or before Thursday, April 19
** If you register on or before April 19 and have selected an LPS elementary school, your packet and shirt will be delivered at school.

>>$8 from April 20 to Friday, April 27
** If you register from April 20-27, packets and shirts will ONLY be available at The Cornhusker Hotel from 3-6pm on Friday, May 4 or on race morning, May 5 starting at 7am. No school pickup for late registration!

>>$10 entry (no t-shirt included) in person at packet pickup at the Cornhusker Hotel on Friday, May 4 from 3-6 p.m.
>>No race day entries

Runners can only register online. Online registration closes at 11:59 p.m. on Friday, April 27.

Race T-shirts
The Mayor’s Run t-shirt is one of the most popular race shirts for the Lincoln Track Club because it is designed by a participant in the race. Every runner who enters by Friday, April 27 is guaranteed a race t-shirt so be sure to mark your size when you register. Sizes run small so plan accordingly. See the t-shirt designs from the previous 28 years

Late registration without a t-shirt is in person at packet pickup at the Cornhusker Hotel on Friday, May 4 from 3-6 p.m. THERE ARE NO RACE DAY ENTRIES!

The KFRX Mayor’s Run sponsored by Sandhill’s Publishing is the third and largest event in the Pepsi Kids’ Grand Prix series.

Many schools distribute packets at the school. Check with your PE teacher to see if your school does this.

Awards
Many prizes including 30 bicycles, helmets, and bike locks from The Bike Rack, as well as 30 pairs of shoes from the Lincoln Running Co., will be awarded to students at school or available to pickup at KFRX.  Please check with your PE Teacher.  One bike will be given to the art contest winner.  All runners will also receive many valuable coupons and each runner will receive a gift from Sandhill’s Publishing.

Parking
Limited parking is available in the parking lots on the south side of the State Capitol building.

In case of bad weather, listen to KFOR AM at 1240 AM or call their number at 402-466-1234 for cancellation notification. It will also be posted on the LTC social media channels.
