2014 Scholarship Recipients

LTC Awards Six Scholarships to Local RunnersThe Lincoln Track Club awarded six, $1,000 scholarships to local highschool runners who plan to continue to compete in cross country and/ortrack and field at the collegiate level at the June 8 board meeting.The LTC established the scholarship program in 2013 to assist arearunners with college expenses because athletic scholarship funds fortrack and field athletes are limited. This is the first year for theprogram.“It is my privilege to award the first LTC scholarships to this groupof six outstanding high school runners,” said Glen Moss, LTCpresident. “Each scholarship recipient is very deserving of this awardand I look forward to following their careers at the next level.”The scholarship recipients are:

  • Brooke Benes from Lincoln Southeast finished her career with a 14thplace finish at the state cross country meet. Benes plans to attendthe University of South Dakota. Her parents are Jennifer Siefkes andKellen Benes.
  • Tyler Janssen from Lincoln East closed his career with a 7th placefinish in the 800 at the state track meet and was a member of the 3rdplace 4x400 and 6th place 4x800 relays at the state track meet.Janssen will be attending Nebraska Wesleyan in the fall. His parentsare Donna and Tim Janssen.
  • Muoch Keak from Lincoln East finished his career at the state trackmeet as a member of the 6th place 4x800 relay and competed in themile. Keak will be attending UNL in the fall and plans to major insecondary education so he can coach at the next level. He guardiansare Sarah Bol and John Ngulh.
  • Natalie Kurtenbach from Lincoln Pius X capped her career with a 7thplace finish at the state cross country meet and was 9th in the 2-milerun at the state track meet. Kurtenbach will be attending RockhurstCollege in Kansas City and plans to major in nursing or physicaltherapy. Her parents are Janet and Mark Kurtenbach.
  • Bryce Nitzsche from Lincoln East capped his career as a member of the3rd place 4x400 and 6th place 4x800 relay teams at the state trackmeet. Nitzsche plans to attend Hesston College in Kansas to studybusiness and finance. His parents are Sherlyn and David Nitzsche.
  • Camrie Ventry from Pius X competed in cross country and track for theThunderbolts. Ventry plans to attend Benedictine College in Atchison,Kansas. Her mother is Sandy Ventry.
