Havelock Charity Run Recap

Close to 900 people were confident that the course would be dry for the 38th Annual Havelock Charity Run. Unlike the previous two years, where as much as 2 inches of rain fell just before the race, this year that confidence paid off, and nearly perfect weather greeted the runners. The 10k race started promptly at 7:30 a.m., followed by the start of the 3k at 7:35.It was a close race on the men’s side, with the top two finishers of the 10k, Michael Rathje and John Rutford, finishing within seconds of each other. Their times were 32:25 and 32:28, respectively. Austin Post finished third in 32:46. The women’s 10k race was just as exciting, with all three of the top finishers, finishing within about a minute. They were Hannah Johnson in 41:41, Laurel Johnson in 42:02, and Amy McCracken in 42:56.Both the men’s and women’s winning times in the 3k were outstanding! Longtime standout Ivan Ivanov blazed through the course in 9:07 and Sacramento native Erica Doering crushed the event by running 10:17—that’s a 5:31 pace! In the men’s race, Andrew Jacob finished in a close second, running 9:11, followed by Josiah Belzer in 9:13. Erica was being chased by a trio of runners, all finishing in 11:33. They were Jamie Larsen, Hannah Awtry, and Morgan Lenners.Followers of this race know that a major component of the Havelock Charity Run is the option to run as a team and raise money for several deserving charities. This year, a total of fifty-one teams finished the race, and a grand total of $3,775 was donated to local area charities. As you may know, the race’s sponsor, Pinnacle Bank, graciously makes a donation for every team that finishes and increases that donation by $25 for every team that finishes ahead of their corporate teams. The 3k teams that finished ahead of the Pinnacle Bank team included LRC Racing 3k, Holy Striders, Jamie Larsen and the..., Petsche, West Gate Bank, Team Potter, 2 Pillars, Near So, Three Lampes and a G..., Scrambled Eggs, NOASM3k Team 1, NHO, and Cleaver Brooks 3.The 10k team that finished ahead of the Pinnacle Bank team are LRC Racing 10k, Werewolf Tribal, LRC Racing 10K Masters, Lincoln Running Co S..., DTR, Arbor Day Foundation, First-Plymouth, East Campus Crawlers, Tabitha Team 4, GO BIG READ #1, Oxymorons-2, Haberfeld 10k, Oh Yeah!, Team LI-COR, 75 Years and Still R..., Schoolin' the Compet..., 2 Pillars, NOASM10k, Oxymorons-1, Hustlin' Huskies, and Your Pace or Mine.
