FAQs

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I wear headphones while I run?

For your safety, we discourage you from wearing headphones while you run the race. If you choose to wear headphones, please use common sense such as keeping the volume low, running with buds in one ear and pay attention to verbal instructions.

Can my kids run?

Absolutely! The LTC has a series of races designed specifically for them. Kids who are in the sixth grade or younger at the first LTC race (Spring Forward Run) will automatically be entered into the Pepsi Kids’ Grand Prix and will be charged a lower fee for each race they enter in the series.

I’m not a fast runner. Should I sign up for races?

We welcome runners and walkers from all levels. Remember, it is an accomplishment to finish what you started and everyone is a winner at our events. We do recommend slower runners/walkers start at the back of pack and stay toward the right-hand side of the course to allow faster runners to pass with ease.

I can’t get to packet pickup. What do I do now?

Race day packet pickup varies from race to race so you will want to go to check the details on the race website. Allow plenty of time for parking and standing in line — we would get there early.

Can a friend pick up my packet for me?

Yes! We allow you to pick up packets for someone else. You will need to know their name and race number.

I cannot run the race. Can I get a refund or transfer my registration?

The LTC has a NO refund and NO transfer policy which is clearly state on the registration waiver and instructions. By registering for our events, participants are agreeing to abide by this policy (ie, the box you clicked Yes I understand without reading). Our race rules also prohibit running under a number or a chip not assigned to you. Any runner using another’s number or chip in a race and anyone allowing another to use his or her number or chip will not be allowed to participate in future LTC events.

Read our Rules of Competition for more details.

What happens if it rains or snows?

The race will go on regardless of precipitation and will only be cancelled if weather conditions present imminent danger to participants. In our 40+ years of putting on races, we have rarely cancelled or postponed a race because of weather. If there is severe weather in the area, we will contact local TV and radio stations and post an update on our social media channels.

Can I run with my dog?

For the safety of others, including your dog, we ask that you keep your dog home. That said, we highly encourage you to bring Rover to run the Holiday Run in December as all proceeds from this run go to the Capital Humane Society.
