PEPSI KIDS’ GRAND PRIX 2020 UPDATE

With COVID-19 changing the way the Lincoln Track Club holds races this year and with the future of the race season unknown, we are rethinking the structure of the Kids’ Grand Prix program. I realize that some of you registered and ran the Tabitha Run and have uploaded your times. And in anticipation of other runs being held virtually, I want to give you the option of including them. For this year only, the number of races run will not determine whether you’re a Grand Slammer. What will count toward Grand Slammer status is getting out for a 1-mile run or walk once a month starting in May. The Kids’ Grand Prix program has always been about getting kids to move. ***BONUS: Do the monthly bonus workout and your name will be entered in a monthly drawing for a free pair of shoes from the Lincoln Running Company. See the link below.

WHAT IS THE PEPSI KIDS’ GRAND PRIX?

The 2020 Pepsi Kids’ Grand Prix series will consist of a monthly run or walk. Kids who run or walk 1 mile a month, May through December, will be considered a Grand Slammer and awarded a Grand Slammer T-shirt and plaque. The Pepsi Kids’ Grand Prix was created to promote youth running in Lincoln and surrounding communities.

Check back each month for a link to the Google Form to upload your activities—your 1-mile run or walk and your BONUS workout, which will give you the chance to win a pair of shoes from the Lincoln Running Company.

WHAT IS THE BONUS WORKOUT?

Randolph Elementary PE teacher Mallory Nutt has created a heart-pumping workout that you can do to earn a BONUS in the 2020 Pepsi Kids’ Grand Prix. Join her each month for a new workout that you (and your parents and brothers and sisters) can do once a month, once a week, or once a day!

Mallory Nutt is a proud physical education teacher currently in her seventh year of teaching. The last three have been spent teaching physical education at Randolph Elementary School in Lincoln. She has taught fourth through eighth grade physical education at C. L. Jones Middle School in Minden, Nebraska, and health, physical education, and adaptive physical education at Kearney High School. She is currently on her second year of serving on the SHAPE (Society of Health And Physical Eduction) Nebraska Board, helping to promote the overall health and well-being through out the state of Nebraska. She loves being outdoors playing softball, basketball, pickleball, hiking, and running to name a few. She has two dogs that she takes on daily walks and has fun teaching them new tricks.
