Lynn Rathjen of Grand Island, Nebraska, received Lincoln Track Club’s 2020 Distinguished Achievement Award for his record-setting performance during The Lincoln Mile in August.

Rathjen, a 44-year veteran of the sport of distance running, set a National Age Group Record for the one mile. At age 75, Rathjen recorded a time of 5:59:18, which is more than 17 seconds faster than the previous record for the 75-79 age group.

Rathjen told Runner’s World, in an article published Aug. 14, 2020, he was a runner in high school, but took a pause from the sport, returning to it at age 35. Since then, he's been running consistently, keeping his average weekly mileage around 20 miles.
